Getting Started
Statuspin monitors your site’s uptime and keeps a history so you can answer “was it down last night?” without guessing. No account, no credit card, no inbox clutter.
Add your first URL
- Open the dashboard.
- Type a label (e.g. “My Portfolio”) and the full URL (e.g.
https://example.com). - Click Add URL.
That’s it. The first check runs within 15 minutes. You can add up to five URLs.
Read the dashboard
The summary table shows each URL, its current status (green = up, red = down), uptime percentage over the last 7 days, average response time, and last-checked time. Click a row to see the full check history chart for that site.
Frequently Asked Questions
How often are my sites checked?
Every 15 minutes. Each check is an HTTP GET request from Cloudflare’s edge network. The status code (200, 301, 404, 500, etc.) and response time are recorded. Custom check intervals are not available on the free tier but are planned for paid plans.
How long is check history kept?
Seven days. You can see the uptime percentage, a timeline chart, and a table of every individual check with its status code and response time. After 7 days, old checks are automatically removed. Longer retention is planned for paid plans.
Why didn’t I get an alert when my site went down?
Statuspin does not send alerts — no email, SMS, push notification, or webhook. This is by design: the product shows you what happened when you open the dashboard. There is no inbox clutter and no setup required.
Email and webhook alerting are planned for paid plans and are clearly marked as “Planned” on the pricing page. They are not available today.
Can I monitor more than 5 URLs?
Not on the free tier. The limit is five URLs per dashboard. Paid plans (Pro: 20 URLs, Team: 50 URLs) are planned but not yet available for purchase. When they launch, you will be able to upgrade without losing your existing URLs.
What happens if I close the browser tab?
Nothing bad — your URLs and their check history are stored on the server. The monitoring continues running every 15 minutes whether you have the dashboard open or not. You can come back on any device and see the same data.
Does Statuspin check JavaScript-rendered content or single-page apps?
No. Checks are basic HTTP GET requests. Statuspin records whether the server responded and how fast — it does not run JavaScript, render a browser, or test form submissions. If your site serves a static HTML page but relies on client-side JS for content, the check will still succeed as long as the server returns a valid HTTP response. For most SPAs this is fine; the check confirms the server is reachable.
Known Limitations
Statuspin is a focused tool, not a full monitoring platform. Some things it deliberately does not do or has not yet built:
No alerts of any kind
Statuspin does not email, SMS, push-notify, or webhook you when a site goes down. You must open the dashboard to see the current status and history. This is a deliberate design choice for the free tier. Alerting is planned for paid plans but not yet built.
No account system
There is no login, no password reset, and no multi-user access. Your dashboard is tied to a session. If you clear your browser data, you will need to re-add your URLs. The monitoring history is stored server-side by session, but there is no way to recover it without the original session identifier.
No custom check intervals
All URLs on the free tier are checked every 15 minutes. You cannot set a different interval for individual URLs. Faster intervals (5-minute, 1-minute) are planned for paid plans.
Basic HTTP checks only
Checks are plain HTTP GET requests. No browser rendering, no JavaScript execution, no form submission testing, no SSL certificate expiry monitoring, no DNS resolution checks. Statuspin records the HTTP status code and response time — nothing more.
7-day history limit
Check history is retained for exactly 7 days. Older checks are automatically removed. Longer retention (30-day, 90-day) is planned for paid plans.
Paid plans are not yet available
The Pro ($9/month) and Team ($29/month) plans shown on the pricing page are planned but not yet available for purchase. The checkout form on the pricing page is a demonstration. No real payment is taken, and no paid features are currently active.
No API
There is no public API for fetching check results, adding URLs programmatically, or integrating with other tools. This is not currently planned.
